Inkjet cartridges versus Toner cartridges

Choosing a printer these days can often feel quite daunting. Which printer brand should you choose? What functions do you need? Print, scan, fax, copy, print photos. Should you choose an inkjet printer or laser toner printer?

Here, at AmazinkDirect recomend that you consider these three questions first:

Do you print a lot?

What sort of things do you print most often? Documents, presentations, homework, photos?

How much does it cost to buy printer ink cartridges?

Volume printing

Traditionally, laser toner cartridges were the only cartridges that can print large volume of documents. These machines can print 1,000's of pages in minutes and toner cartridges tend to hold ink suitable for high volume use but can be expensive to replace.

But the inkjet printer manufacturers such as; HP, Epson, Brother, Canon & Lexmark are now catching up to this and are now producing Workforce Pro printers that take inks that can easily print 3,000 pages or more per ink cartridge and can be a cost effective printing option for most medium to 'quite heavy' ink users.

Printing photos at home or in the office?

At AmazinkDirect we recommend only inkjet printers for this type of printing. Inks available now for inkjet printers can produce lab quality photos, crisp images, vibrant colour and fade resistant.

Next steps
Determining the cost effectiveness of an inkjet printer or laser printer is really down to your own personal printing habits & your budget. If printing quality photos to share with your friends & family or for the your work, it has to an inkjet printer. However, printing high volume, 10,000 pages or more over just a couple of months or more it should probably be a laser printer.

Whichever type of printer you decide it is always worth considering buying re-manufactured ink cartridges or compatible ink cartridges as an alternative to original ink cartridge manufacturers such as HP, Epson, Canon, Brother & Kodak etc; The quality of many compatible ink products are often very crisp and reliable.

Also, look out for XL and combo packs which is the cheapest way to buy ink.

Plus of course look out for offers and vouchers to help cut the cost of printing. Sign up to the AmazinkDirect newsletter and we will send you exclusive money off deals, freebie offers and competitions.

Happy printing !
